Sound composition by Götz Naleppa (2024)
Recording, composition and production: Götz Naleppa
First transmission!
"With 'Troubled Times | Unruhige Zeiten', I have processed my experiences from the 2020s to the present day. The result is a sound painting characterised by the pandemic, wars, violence and environmental disasters. How to deal with this without giving up, without resigning? The answer is hidden in recurring sound elements, as in a search pattern, which subliminally refer to a poem by the American poet Emily Dickinson: "Hope is the thing with feathers...". Short text quotations from the radio play "Cake Walk oder Eine Reise in die Anarchie" by Rudolf Lorenzen from 1988 (RIAS) serve as acoustic signposts.
It is up to the listener to make sense of it and decipher the images." (Götz Naleppa, 2024)

"Hope" is the thing with feathers
[EMILY DICKINSON]
"Hope" is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -
And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard -
And sore must be the storm -
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm -
I've heard it in the chillest land -
And on the strangest sea -
Yet - never - in Extremity,
It asked a crumb - of me.
Bei den New York Festivals 2025 mit einem SILVER AWARD excellent!

“IT’S WAGNERIAN, SCARY, AND UNIMAGINABLY REAL - A TRUE PICTURE OF THESE TIMES"
È troppo bello… a sonic representation which far from any generic realism that produces a realism of it own - totally frightening! (Alvin Curran)
