"Cyrano's Journey to the Moon" is based on the first part of the utopian double novel 'Cosmic History of the States and Empires of the Moon and the Sun' by Cyrano de Bergerac (1619-1655).
With the first science fiction novel of the modern age, describing his journey to the lunar and solar states (Campanellas), Cyrano de Bergerac has secured a place at the forefront of world literature. His physics-trained and extremely creative imagination leads him - for the first time in human history - to ascend into the cosmos in a rocket. In accordance with his expectations and mindset, he meets extraterrestrial beings there.
In the play, the fantastic-utopian method of Cyrano moves like a spiral towards our present.
