Faust, who has been taken up to heaven after moving and harrowing events, desperately tries to justify his earthly lifestyle and no longer understands his own words. Not because of the loud singing of the angels, but because of the different nature of heavenly language. Nevertheless, he gives free rein to his speech and his 'Faustian liveliness' and forgets himself in the depths of the moment, which turns out to be exactly what he had painstakingly searched for in the first two parts of J. W. von Goethe's tragedy.
This composition for gong and voice originated in the work for 'Die Gesetzestafeln', a piece from 1999 that was produced in Michael Vetter's 'Academia Capraia'.
