Content: Inspector Sejer has to solve two cases at once. Old Halldis, who lived alone on a farm away from the village, was murdered and a bank was robbed. In addition, the contact-shy and ultimately almost mute Erkki Johrma has escaped from the psychiatric clinic where he has been living for years. Fat Kannik thinks he saw him upstairs with old Halldis. The people of the village are quick to pass judgement. Erkki, they think they know for sure, has the old woman on his conscience. But the case does not seem to be quite that simple. Is Erkki's sudden disappearance really connected to these events? Inspector Sejer meets with the boy's psychotherapist and gets his story told, hoping to find a clue that will bring him closer to solving the mystery.
