'The Shop

Author: Kedar Nath (India 1927)
Genre: Radio play
Production: RIAS 1978
Director: Götz Naleppa
Length: 30 min.

Participants: Curt Bois, Horst Bollmann, Tobias Pagel, Edith Robbers

Content: The brothers Bhimu and Dshawala Shah run a shop in Delhi. Although Bhimu came as a refugee from Pakistan and his brother had taken him in, he shows little gratitude. Soon Bhimu takes charge in the shop and teaches Dshawala the rules of capitalism. The brothers find cheap labour in the shy Murli, another refugee from Pakistan. The boy becomes a victim of the family power games.
The voices of Curt Bois and Horst Bollmann lead us into a distant world whose mechanisms are very familiar to us.
