They met in 1928 and soon became one of the most famous couples of the 20th century. Their intense relationship lasted until Sartre's death in 1980. Their way of living together was seen by many as an alternative to the combat zone of bourgeois marriage. Both made their relationship and their lives part of their work.
They granted each other great freedom, but the depth of their bond is much harder to describe. This documentary radio play reconstructs scenes of this love from diaries, letters and interviews.
