On 5 and 6 September 1996, the international radio and Internet project "Rivers and Bridges" took place via satellite and the Internet - with performances, installations, concerts and events at over 20 locations in Europe and overseas. The project was initiated by members of the Ars Acustica working group of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). Almost 30 radio stations, including DeutschlandRadio Berlin, and audio artists from numerous countries took part. The projects ranged from haiku and a composition competition to a magic act that made the Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam disappear.
Director Götz Naleppa and sound engineer Lutz Pahl have condensed the 12 hours of sound material into 50 minutes in their "Remix".
