On 5 and 6 September 1996, a conference was held via satellite and in the
Internet the international radio and internet project
"Rivers and Bridges" will take place - with performances,
Installations, concerts and events at over 20 venues
in Europe and overseas. The project was initiated by
Members of the Ars Acustica working group of the European
Broadcasting Union (EBU). Almost 30 radio stations, including
also Deutschlandradio Berlin, and audio artists from
numerous countries took part. The projects ranged
from the haiku to the composition competition to the
Magic act that made the Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam the
disappeared. Director Götz Naleppa and
sound engineer Lutz Pahl have recorded the 12 hours of sound material in
their "Remix" compressed compositionally to 50 minutes.
