Franz: Look, Sarah, how the kite is hopping in the air. The string is longer than ever today. How it's already getting dark blue down here, isn't it? The sun is still shining on the kite. I've got it in my head that we're two tightrope walkers as big as a matchstick. Then we'd walk up the rope to the very top. To where the sun is. When the enemies came, we'd just laugh up there. Just sitting on the kite and swinging in the wind.
12-year-old Franz lives in another world. Sarah? No one has seen her, no one knows her. But for Franz she is alive, even though he has to put up with a lot of mockery and ridicule from his playmates. Only in the course of the children's radio play does the dream figure Sarah come together like a mosaic. Sarah as fiction, Sarah as mystery, Sarah as adventure.
